Thank you for your support!

Nine out of ten people in Uganda still cook over an open fire. Over the last 20 years, that’s burned through a third of the country’s trees. Improved cookstoves turn the heat down on deforestation by burning 50 percent less wood. And guess what? You helped 250,000 of them get built in Uganda’s capital of Kampala.

The perks are prevalent there. Greener stoves have led to more green in their forests—plus more green in their pockets. And saving money on wood boosts the economy as a whole. According to Mama Njuguna, a local restaurant owner, “The stoves have improved my life. Because it is clean, I save half of the charcoal I was using, which makes a huge difference. Even if you light in the house, it is smokeless, so it is really good for everyone.”

It’s a win-win for families and the Planet. So, on behalf of everyone here at Cool Effect (and Mother Earth), we thank you for your support.
